Biobanking, biomarker analysis, proteomics, genomics, metabolomics and bioinformatics — with Canada’s largest research biobank behind them. End-to-end laboratory services for research of any size, anywhere in the world.
Eight connected service areas, scalable from a single sample to studies of more than 10,000 participants across 85+ countries.
Scalable testing from single-plex ELISA to high-throughput automated analysis, plus new method development and validation for customized assays and workflows.
From targeted biomarker panels to large-scale protein profiling — 3,000+ proteins per sample. We help you choose the technology and study design that fits your question and budget. The first non-Olink lab in Canada to run the Olink assay.
Two genotyping platforms, DNA sequencing, gene expression and DNA methylation analysis — up to 10 million genetic variants per DNA sample, for projects from a single sample to more than 10,000.
Metabolomic analysis that complements our genomic and proteomic platforms for integrated multi-omics study designs.
Flexible support for every genomic service: experimental design and planning, quality control, statistical analysis, interpretation and reporting, and analytical tool development. 200+ terabytes of data processed.
Accessioning, processing, aliquoting, cataloguing and long-term storage for longitudinal studies — 4,000,000+ aliquots of blood and urine with full chain of custody.
62 nitrogen-vapour tanks at −160°C to −180°C, each holding 60,000–80,000 vials, protecting samples across decades of follow-up.
Central lab infrastructure for single- and multi-site trials: PI-specific SOP development, global specimen logistics and regulatory-compliant reporting — 100+ PHRI studies supported.
The biobank grew with PHRI’s landmark studies — HOPE (9,000 participants, 28 countries) from 1993, then INTERHEART (almost 30,000 participants), INTERSTROKE and PURE from 1999. Because these studies run for five to ten years, every sample is kept at −160°C to −180°C in nitrogen vapour for long-term stability, in our 12,000 sq. ft. facility at Hamilton General Hospital.
Our Quality Management System utilizes process control and project management approaches contained in the IQMH ISO 15189:2012 accreditation program. All operations are governed by Standard Operating Procedures.
✦ IQMH ISO 15189 Plus Accredited Since 2014Every operation governed by SOPs. Study-specific protocols developed with each PI before initiation.
Studies initiated on time and project changes integrated rapidly by our experienced team.
Dedicated project management team with customized materials and strong customer service commitment.
Established protocols for specimen collection, transportation, and reception from 85+ countries.
Whether you need a single analytical panel or full central lab infrastructure — we scale to you.
