Potassium (urine)

Potassium (urine)

Used for the determination of urine potassium on the Beckman Coulter UniCel DxC600 Synchron Clinical System.

Instrument: Beckman Coulter UniCel DxC600

Specimen Type: Urine

Volume per test: 40uL (min volume 150uL)

Principle:

The Synchron System determines potassium ion concentration by indirect potentiometry utilizing a potassium selective electrode in conjunction with a sodium reference electrode.

To measure the concentrations of either electrolyte, a precise volume of sample (40µL) is mixed with a buffered solution at a ratio of 1:33. The high molar strength buffer is used to establish a constant activity coefficient for sodium or potassium ions, calibrating the electrode to concentration values.

Testing Range: 2-300 mmol/L
